Mobile World Congress 2009: Trends

Again we have to leave the Mobile World Congress. Four days have been hard, where we have been doing a review of many of the presentations made at the fair. Toca then throw the light back and see who has left us this past week in the world of mobile telephony.

For me, one of the most important, or rather of "no facts", has been the virtual absence of Android. Repeats the situation last year, when they expected a good number of terminals and, finally, some were only prototypes.
The first day we almost would not have any terminal with Android, but the model was showing Huawei, but keeping in a box without having them in place. Fortunately, we were able to try the Magic HTC and HTC Dream, believe in the future of this operating system. The war between operating systems is one aspect that the MWC has highlighted. The presentation of Windows Mobile 6.5, the low presence of Android and the power shown by the Pre Palm, along with terminals equipped with the Symbian OmniaHD points to an interesting future, where there will be much to choose from, and where competition will they all have to continually improve if they want to win your audience.

Windows Mobile 6.5 has been shown to be a somewhat weak opponent, simply by implementing a series of cosmetic changes instead of the renewal it needs. That lets the Windows Mobile 7, for a still distant future, but at 6.5 it does not augur a departure date shortly.Another trend we have seen in this Mobile World Congress has been renewed in the touchscreens. If last year we said that these were the big winners this year we have seen its evolution, with a good number of models equipped with screens Grinding, especially coming at the hands of Samsung, and especially of screens Capacitive touch. Both LG and Samsung to incorporate some of its models, like the HTC Android terminals. Nokia at the moment has no plans to do anything with this technology, and terminals do not support Windows Mobile, so do not expect any with her, despite the fact that there was any evidence to the implementation of the fair.It was not therefore a major bombings show, but considering the current state of the economy, mobile telephony appears to hold quite ENVIT the resistance of the crisis.
