The Mobile World Congress, the largest world fair of telephony, The director general Bill Gadje, announced a breakthrough that the industry is working on a universal charger that can be used for all types of mobile handsets. By 2012, all the mobile market will put on the universal charger, 'he said. This executive believes that the new device will reduce greenhouse emissions, and to fall significantly in e-waste generation.

In this effort, work and business industry leaders like Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, LG, or operators Telefonica, Vodafone, Orange and AT & T, among others.
The model chosen for the new charger mobile devices that use battery-efficient, will be the Micro-USB, which is already used by some models like the Blackberry Storm, all or some Nokia Motorola and LG. Among the conditions to be met by this enhancement is the reduction of electricity consumption by 50% compared to the current.

The realization of a universal model, a call traditional defenders of the environment, will prevent users from its charger to throw EoL mobile.

However, this standardization is also a requirement of Brussels. The European Commissioner for Industry, Günter Verheugen, announced last week that his patience "has been exhausted" with respect to the standardization of chargers, but hoped that the initiative comes from the manufacturers themselves.
