Garmin will announce its first GPS navigation system designed exclusively for trucks.The device, called the nuvi 465T, supports multiple profiles and trucks with advanced routing features to provide support and guidance on the restrictions on the roads for trucks, such as height, width, length, weight, and hazardous materials.
Everything the driver needs to do is enter some information about size and any restriction on its load, and the nuvi 465T will adjust the itinerary according to these data.
The nuvi 465T also provides locations of the National Service for trucks and trailers (NTTS) and a guide for the truck repair facilities nationwide. This information is preloaded and allows truck drivers find points of interest such as places for truck repair, towing and recovery, repair and sale of tires, glass repair, fuel stops and more.
The nuvi 465T features a 4.3 inch touch screen, comes with maps of United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, according to the voice street names, and also has Bluetooth. Also the transition time by zones automatically.
Traffic alerts from NAVTEQ Traffic are free for life. It also reports on risk warnings for trucks along the route, such as curves, slopes, road narrowing and more.
This GPS navigator is available in the second quarter of this year at a price of $500.
