Recently we mentioned some decisions being taken regarding the development of Chromium for Linux, the open source browser that is behind Google Chrome.Today I told them that there is already a pre-alpha version of this browser. This means that there is a version that is in full swing and will not necessarily work well, but it is a first step.
This port of Chrome shows a GTK interface that will work like the Windows interface. The sites we've tested work well, but there is no certainty that it behaves well with everyone. Some features like tabs, bookmarks, or the options window has not yet been implemented.
Despite this, Chromium behaves quite well for their level of maturity, and feels even lighter than Firefox.
Ubuntu users can experiment with this browser because it is a packaged version in the repositories PPA. Given the state of development, is a version that is updated daily and is not tested thoroughly. They are warned!
