TomTom and Microsoft reach agreement after a patent application

Microsoft and the company car navigation systems TomTom stop having reached an agreement on the legal dispute over patents.
As it has been announced, agreed to pay the TomTom software giant by the use of patented technology for car navigation and file management and allow some use of Microsoft technologies TomTom.
"This agreement puts an end to disputes between the two companies," said Director of Strategy and Operations Peter Spours TomTom.
Microsoft complaints filed in February against TomTom in the District Court and the United States International Trade Commission, while TomTom introduced a counter-claim accusing Microsoft of violating some of their patented technologies.
The agreement that settled the dispute shall be for a period of five years and does not involve the payment of money from Microsoft to TomTom.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but the payment TomTom Microsoft must make to cover past and future sales of TomTom devices in the United States.
TomTom, which is regarded as one of the navigation solution providers "leader in the world, with popular devices like the GO to guide drivers through the use of satellite tracking of vehicles with a broad base of data built with the help of digital maps of the company TeleAtlas, which she bought in 2008.
Earlier this year, TomTom launched service GO 740 Live which brings the flow of traffic updates in real time, weather and fuel prices to local navigation devices which are usually mounted on the boards.
